Breed Name: Bernese Mountain Dog
Country of Origin: Switzerland
Height:
23 – 27.5 inches
Weight:
65 – 120 lbs
Temperament:
The Bernese Mountain Dog is a very good natured calm and confident breed that does not exhibit any aggression and is almost always docile, even with strangers. Although they are such a large breed they tend to be very playful and make good pets where there is enough space to allow it to play freely although they do not need all that much exercise.
Colors:
These dogs only come in one color and that is black with rust colored markings on their muzzle, legs and tail. They should also have white in their underside.
Other information:
The Bernese Mountain Dog originated in the mountains of Switzerland and have been used as draft and droving dogs for a number of years. Their origins are uncertain although they look remarkably like black colored St Bernards. They are very good pets because they are very calm and affectionate and are very good with children. They also do not need as much space to exercise as similar sized dogs and a small yard will do very well. They have two coats of hair; a soft undercoat that sheds a couple of times a year and a rough overcoat that is not wiry. They usually do not need too much grooming except when they shed their hair.
At Poochieheaven we carry Bernese Mountain Dog beds and collars for Bernese Mountain Dogs.
