If you’re like me, then your dog is a very special part of your family. It doesn’t matter if you have a really big dog or a very small pocket dog, from the first day your pet comes to join your family, it is a relationship match that only grows better with time.
Having a pet is a responsibility and a reward when it comes to their upkeep and appearance. Fortunately, these responsibilities go hand-in-hand with the rewards that come with having an opportunity to do some fun things for your dog or cat.
One of the things I enjoy most about my little dog Sahsha (yes, we decided to spell it that way on purpose) is getting her dressed up. Her personality is really large like most little dogs but she’s also the perfect canvas when it comes to putting her in small dog clothes.
When we first purchased Sahsha, she developed kennel cough during her first week of transitioning to our home. After a visit to the vet to get her checked out, I invested in some comfort items for her. Among the things I found some pajamas that looked quite adorable in and let her curl up in my lap for some rest.
If you have a big dog, I’ve noticed that clothes for big dogs are becoming quite the fashion statement as well. That means you can treat your big dog to some of the same fashionable designs as they make for little dogs like my Sahsha, who is now a healthy 6 pounds and the belle of our home.
Critics argue that dog clothes are more for the owners than the dogs but I would disagree. Many small dogs benefit greatly from clothing, particularly when they live in areas that have colder temperatures during the winter months.
So whether you have a large or small dog, you can make clothing choices for them that reflects style, taste and functionality. There are many different occasions when you can choose an outfit for your pet that celebrates the occasion such as a holiday.
For Halloween and Christmas, I always dress Sahsha in a costume and beautiful dress. One year, she was a hotdog for Halloween and we took her walking through the neighborhood for trick-or-treating. Believe it or not, Sahsha got quite a few Halloween dog treats from neighbors who are pet lovers like myself.
There’s no question that there are more dog clothing options for girl dogs than for boys but don’t count your little boy out for the next time you’d like to have him looking extra special because more and more outfits for boys are being designed regularly and many of them are just as cute as the little dresses for girls
If you can come up with an idea for what you’d like to see your big or little dog wearing, there’s a very good possibility that someone has designed your idea into a cute dog outfit.
