Breed Name: Basset Hound
Country of Origin: France
Height:
12 – 15 inches
Weight:
Although the Basset hound is very small in height they are quite solid animals and weigh between 50 and 65 pounds.
Temperament:
The Basset hound is a very mild mannered animal and is extreme in its devotion to its master. They make great companion dogs because of their gentle non-aggressive manner.
Colors:
The Basset hound usually comes in black, tan, red, white and other usual hound colors.
Other information:
The Basset hound was bred to hunt small game like rabbits and has short legs and a good sense of smell because of this. Although they are very small, they are very powerful animals and are capable of endurance far exceeding other dogs of similar size. They are however very mild mannered friendly dogs and easily take to other dogs or humans. Their short coats are almost maintenance free and a good brushing now and then is sufficient most times. They also have a permanent sad expression that is exacerbated by the hanging dewlaps giving them a charm and making them very effective at begging for and getting treats.
At Poochieheaven we carry basset hound beds and basset hound collars.
