Halloween's coming up, which is one of my favorite holidays (warning: I'll probably say that about every holiday, I love all of 'em). It's been fun watching all the pet Halloween costumes coming through and after handling most of them, a couple of them I found extra adorable and have to mention here.

One was an absolutely adorable raccoon costume made from a super-comfy mesh. I have a sweater made out of the same material, and can vouch for how nice it is, just enough of an extra layer to keep you from getting cold but not enough to overheat. Plus the face is just squee-worthy. The little plastic eyes are just pleading to take it home with me. If it was a real raccoon, that might be a problem, but on your pet? Just a bad case of the cutest thing ever.

Besides that there was the alligator costume. Maybe it stood out because I was super chilly that day, but that fuzzy lining looked like the perfect thing for a chilly Halloween night, and between living in Minnesota and Wisconsin, I can't say I really remember the last warm Halloween. Not to mention one of my previous roommates who had a chihauhau, and the poor thing was always freezing. Pickles would've looked fantastic in this. And all the felt details were a nice touch-ridges on the back and tail, a mouthful of teeth, and little yellow claws at the end of each paw.

Last one I'll mention isn't actually a costume. But this week I got introduced to the idea of dog popcorn, called Yaky Charms, which I thought was both hilarious and the coolest thing ever. I would've loved to have our old husky, Keesha, munching on a bowl of 'popcorn' with the family as we sat down and watched a movie. Apparently its made from an ancient Himalayan hard cheese recipe that has a lot of good protein and such for dogs. They found out that if you microwave it (I wonder who thought to do that), it puffs up like popcorn and becomes a semi-soft snack for pups.

Lots of nifty stuff this week, and I'm sure I'll be sharing at least a couple more costumes before Halloween, so watch out.
