Adopted Out!

Posted by Briana Graber on

One of the happiest bits of news I've seen lately-a shelter in Kansas City, Missouri has adopted out 800 pets!  It was actually a combined effort of three shelters, and almost all their kennels are empty after a big annual adoption event, and most of the pets remaining were on hold for other potential forever homes.  Their goal for the event had been 500 pets.  Volunteers were ecstatic to beat their goal by so much.  That kind of goal can only be reached by hard-working people, and loving hearts on both sides of the equation.

In celebration of the event the animals the future owners of the remaining pets will have reduced adoption fees.

Many of the recently adopted pets will go to their new homes this week, so wish them luck!  I hope to hear a lot more stories like this, soon.  To help with that, I've taken the liberty of looking at events in the upper-Midwest.

On October 22nd, Fetch Wisconsin Rescue will be holding a Pints and Pups event at Maple Bluff Beach Park.

Secondhand Hounds in Minnesota has a couple events coming up, one on October 15 (tomorrow!) and another on November 5, where you can stop by and meet the adoptable pups.

Think about stopping by, or seeing what you can do to help your local animal shelter or humane society.  No pet deserves to be without a home.
